“Praise in Harmony”: De Lanerolle Brothers take their music back to the hills
View(s):The De Lanerolle Brothers will take the sounds of their music back to the hills on Saturday, October 24 with “Praise in Harmony”, a programme of sacred music to be held at St. Paul’s Church Kandy.
The choirs of Hillwood College, Good Shepherd Convent, St. Anthony’s College and Trinity College will accompany the brothers, alongside acclaimed organist Neranjan de Silva on keyboards.
Proceeds from the evening’s collection will go towards the Even Tide Home and the Pipe Organ Fund of St. Paul’s Church, Kandy.
The pipe organ at St. Paul’s Church is one of the few such instruments in Sri Lanka, and the church body is determined to maintain it as best they can.
Although a dearth of trained organists makes for very few opportunities to show off its capabilities, it is still the instrument of choice at Sunday morning service and other occasions.
Despite their international schedules, the De Lanerolle Brothers remain simple choristers at heart, sharing their gift of music at every possible opportunity.
The upcoming programme in Kandy will not only be an opportunity for them to present an offering of sacred music at the altar of the beautiful church and support a good cause, but also to join voices with the younger generation of musicians.
The brothers’ most recent programme in Kandy was a very productive and fun-filled collaboration with the choristers of Trinity College, and the organisers are excited that singers from other schools in Kandy will also have a similar experience at the upcoming event.
The evening will feature some of the best loved and cherished sacred music of the Anglican church as well as more recent compositions.
Tickets priced at Rs.500 are available at St. Paul’s Church, Kandy as well as the Kandy City Mission office on D. S. Senanayake Veediya and the Lighthouse Church office on Piachaud Gardens.
