The Guitar Association of Sri Lanka (GASL) is hosting a series of classical guitar workshops and masterclasses with Dr. Paul Cesarczyk from October 20 onwards, culminating in a gala performance by the renowned guitarist on Saturday, October 24

“This is the first workshop to be held in Sri Lanka by a master class guitarist,” says GASL President Iqbal Mohamed. The Association is designing these workshops for “those who are seriously into classical guitar playing,” he continued.

The workshops will not only provide information and training in technique, but teaching methodology as well.

Paul Cesarczyk is a Polish-born American guitarist, currently Professor of Guitar and Head of Guitar Studies at Mahidol University College of Music, Thailand. He made his New York City debut at the age of seventeen at Carnegie Hall and has since been performing regularly in the US, Europe and Asia.

He is a founder member of the Manhattan Guitar Quartet and has also played with the Speculum Musicae and the Cremona Festival Orchestra among many other world-renowned ensembles.

Workshop schedule:
October 20 – University of Peradeniya workshops followed by concert at E.O.E. Pereira Theatre at 6 p.m.
October 21 – Giragama Teachers’ College, Pilimathalawa
October 22 – University of Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo (morning), Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo (afternoon)
October 23 – Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo
October 24- Gala Concert at Russian Cultural Centre
