The weather continued to hamper the 23rd Singer-MCA Premier League 2016, even after the restart with a re-scheduled match programme, on Wednesday, October 7.  The match between John Keells and Sampath Bank was called off without a ball being bowled at the MCA grounds.

The other game at De Soysa Park, Moratuwa, reduced to a 28-over-a-side game, was comfortably won by MAS Active Trading by eight wickets over Commercial Credit and Finance. The tournament will be continued, during the weekend with a card of six matches.

‘B’ DIVISION
Dimo registered their third successive win with a crushing nine wicket win over Singer Sri Lanka PLC ‘A’ in the ongoing 3rd Emerald Ceylon Tea Cup, MCA ‘B’ Division 50 Over League Tournament 2016 continued last Wednesday. Despite a valiant 56 runs by Isuru Shamara, Singer fell on the way side, all out for 100 in 31 overs, with Aravinda Premaratne (3 for 13) and Matheesha Perera (3 for 7) being the main destroyers of Singer.

DIMO shed little sweat, reaching 101 for the loss of only one wicket in 17.1 overs, with Lakkana Jayasekera 55 not out and Nipun Karunanayake 32 not out were engaged in an unbroken 2nd wicket partnership.

Mangala Pradeep snapped seven wickets for 24 runs and Dinuk Wickremanayake scored a polished unbeaten 66 to propel MAS Linea Aqua to a comprehensive five wicket win over LB Finance ‘A’.\
The tournament will be continued this weekend with a card of seven matches.
