Ladies make it 5-in-a-row
View(s):Ladies College Rowing Crew led by Tarea Karunaratne put up a remarkable performance to fight back strongly showing a lot of grit to finally outclass Musaeus College in one of the most closely fought Ladies-Musaeus Rowing regattas in recent years.
Thereby they retained the coveted Marie Musaeus Higgins Trophy for the 5th successive year at the Beira waters last Saturday.
At the end of the penultimate fours race which Musaeus won easily they were leading by 25 to 15 and looked to run away with the event.
However, in a tense final race in gloomy overcast conditions with the light fading rapidly the Ladies College ‘A Four’ sank their rivals in a superb display of rowing to win the prestigious Boat Race and achieve a thrilling win 27-25.
Ishara Abbey of Ladies College set a record timing in the ‘A Scull’ event and won the prestigious Oarswoman of the Regatta Trophy ‘for the second successive year.
