Failures are the pillars of success
View(s):Our school religious trip
On June 24, 2015 we went on our second field trip from school to a mosque, kovil, temple and church.
First we went to the mosque. We removed our shoes and went inside. It was very calm and quiet. A Muslim priest came and told us that they don’t keep statues to worship and many more facts.
Then we went to two nearby kovils. There were many kinds of Gods and Goddesses. When we went there was
a big pooja. Next we went to the Raja Maha Viharaya temple. First we saw gems around the dagoba to protect it. The Raja Maha Viharaya was built by King Parakramabahu in 1415. The main elephants there are Surathala, Hemantha, Raja, Surathal Raja. The monk there told us that one style of elephants with broad tusks, are taken for the Maha Perahera.
I liked this religious trip a lot as we learnt lots of things.

How I spent Eid
Hajj is a very holy festival for Muslims.
We had a bath early in the morning and dressed in new clothes to go to the mosque for Eid prayers. After prayers we came home and had a good breakfast. My mother made sweets for the Eid table. Family and friends visited us. We greeted each other.
After lunch we visited our friends and relations. We got lots of presents. It was a wonderful day and I enjoyed it very much.

My leisure activity
My leisure activity is collecting stamps. I’ve been doing it for over five years. I like it because it’s an interesting activity. It gives knowledge and entertainment.
Now I have 1200 stamps. There are over
400 foreign stamps among them. I get stamps from my friends and my father also gets stamps from his friends and office. My uncle who is in Japan helps me a lot. So I have many valuable foreign stamps too.
I take Saturday morning to do my activity. There I add new stamps into my album and exchange excess stamps with friends. I also note down important facts on the stamps like price, country, photo etc. This is a profitable activity as I sell stamps at times. So I love it and enjoy it very much.

I admire Aishwarya Rai because of her talents but I admire her most because of her nice acting. She is very kind. She has acted in lots of films. I think she is a very good mother!

Wild animals
There are many wild animals in the forests. The tiger, wolf, elephant, bear, deer and wild buffalo are a few of them. Some of them eat leaves and some eat the flesh of other small animals.
We can see these animals at the zoo. There they are kept in cages. Therefore they cannot harm us.
The animals add beauty to the forests. They live happily when they are in the forests.
We must be careful when we enter the forests.

Everybody has failed many times in their lifetime, even the most successful people. When you have to complete a task and you fail, you gain more determination. By that you work harder the next time. So there are many lessons we can learn from failing.
If we don’t try, we can’t do anything and even when we try, we won’t get it right the first time.
For example, Bill Gates was a high school dropout but now he is a billionaire and the richest man in the world. Thomas Alva Edison made more than 20,000 prototypes before he made the light bulb that we use now. Isaac Newton, a great scientist was figuring out why an apple fell down and not up and everyone thought he was silly. But by that only he figured out that the earth has a gravitational force that keeps us on earth and not floating in the air.
Even the greatest scientists, Olympic medalists and very famous people have all failed many times in their lives. But they never gave up. If you try, try, try… you will fly, fly, fly!

Our Solar System
Our Solar System is elliptical in shape. This means that it is shaped like an egg. The Sun is in the centre of the Solar System. There are eight planets in the Solar System. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The biggest planet is Jupiter.
The Sun is our closest star in the
Solar System. A comet is a dirty ball of dust and snow in space. The Earth is the only planet that sustains life.
The smallest planet is Mercury.
The coolest planets are Uranus and Neptune. Earth is the only planet that people can live on. The planet that has a ring is Saturn.

Freedom of children
Children should be free from slavery. They should get the freedom for studies. Around the world there are many children but society divides them into two categories, the rich and the poor. The poor suffer a lot, while the rich do not.
In the villages of India many poor children are being bonded for money to the rich to work as their slaves. At such a young age the children are doing labour work. Not only in India but this happens around the world. Why should the poor children suffer? Is it because they are helpless? Think about it and you will find your answer.

My pet
I have a lovely pet. My pet is a dog. His name is Shadow. Shadow is two years old. He is a spaniel.
He has brown eyes. He has a shaggy coat and it is silky. It has a long tail. It has soft and spongy paws.
It has a soft and loud bark.
When he sees me, he welcomes me with a bark and wags his tail. It has a cage in the garden. I give him dog food and bones. I give him milk every day because he likes milk. He is a playful dog, loving and faithful.
One day he ran out of the gate. I was angry and sad. I went with my father to look for him. And I saw him behind the bushes. I called him and he came to me with a sad look. I was happy to see my naughty dog.
In the evening, I took him for a long walk and I gave him a bone to gnaw and water to drink. When I came out he was sleeping in his little kennel I made for him. He is my good friend. I love him a lot.
