Comedy about reality of politics
‘Suhada Koka’ latest comedy film directed by Giriraj Kaushalya is now being screened at CEL circuit cinemas around the country.
Following the box office hit ‘Sikuru Hathe’ eight years ago, Giriraj has made his second direction on a story about a politician.
The film starts with the election campaign of Rajamanthri, the politician in the area. Despite the hard and expensive campaign, Rajamanthri is defeated due to low ‘Manapa’ (preferential votes) he had received.
The politician is heart broken and he virtually wails. But soon he received the happy news that Dhanajaya, a politician who managed to win the election dies due to heart attack.
A group of shrewd businessmen want Rajamanthri to be a minister and this is because they would be much benefited if he becomes a minister. Rajamanthri’s journey to be a minister is the story of ‘Suhada Koka’.
The star studded cast with leading comedians includes Wijaya Nandasiri, Rodney Warnakula, Kusum Renu, Lal Kularatne, W. Jayasiri, Sathischandra Edirisinghe, Mihira Sirithilaka, Giriraj Kaushalya, Lalith Janakantha, Saman Hemaratne, Somasiri Alakolanga, Priyantha Seneviratne, Rathna Sumanapala, Damitha Saluwadana, Gamini Ambalangoda and Damitha Abeyratne.
Story, screenplay and direction are by Giriraj Kaushalya while Ravindra Guruge produced the film for The Video Team.
Art direction of the film is by Sirinatha Wickremasinghe, Bandula Wijesekara, Nilantham, cinematography and lighting by Thusitha Anurada, make up Imal Shanaka Peiris, editor Ravindra Guruge, music Rohana Weerainshge and Kapila Poogalarachchi. Production organizer is Jayaprakash Shivagurunadan. Saman Lenin, Amandya Uthpali, Rodney Warnakula, Mihira Sirithilaka, Giriraj Kaushalya and Lalith Janakantha will render their voices for playback songs.
