Zonta Club III of Colombo presents an entertaining evening of music on two pianos by Ramya de Livera Perera and Soundarie David Rodrigo.

Featuring enthralling music from the works of Bach, Max Bruch, Saint-Saens and Lutoslawski, the concert will be on November 12 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre at 7.30 p.m. and will also feature guest artistes Ananda Dabare on violin and Sureka Amarasinghe on flute.

This is the second time that Zonta is joining these two well-known musicians to organise the show as a fundraiser for its continued camapaign to end Violence Against Women and Girls.

Both Ramya and Soundarie share a common bond, as women, to help raise funds for Zonta Club III of Colombo’s ‘No to Violence’ initiative. This coincides with Zonta’s 96th birthday in November.

Known for her dedication to nurturing young talent, Ramya was awarded a Hon. R.A.M (Royal Academy of Music) in 2002. She enjoys accompanying and playing in chamber ensembles both violin and piano, and is the co-leader of the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka.

A pupil of the late Mary Billimoria and Ramya De Livera Perera, Soundarie completed her musical career at the Royal College of Music in London.

Soundarie is the founder and music director of the choir ‘Soul Sounds’, and the Sri Lanka representative on the council for Musica Mundi, the international organization that hosts several international choral festivals and competitions.

The main goal and focus of Zonta is to launch an intensive advocacy campaign to reduce the incidences of violence against women through awareness to all sections of society.

In 2014-16, The Zonta Club III of Colombo has launched a series of advocacy campaigns towards awareness and also provides a monthly contribution to ‘Heavena’, the shelter home by Community Concern for battered women and their children.

Tickets priced at Rs. 3000, 2500, 2000 and 1000 and balcony Rs. 500 are available at the Lionel Wendt
