With reference to the Business Times report last week titled ‘CB re-employs old staffers as consultant’, in an article that I wrote for the Business Times on 15.03.2015 I highlighted the necessity of grooming career central bankers for future top posts. This important issue has been neglected for years and as a result the Central Bank (CB) is now engaged in employing five CB retirees to fill career gaps according to the news item. Had these retirees groomed subordinates in time well before their retirement this crisis of successor unavailability wouldn’t have surfaced! At least now, these five CBSL retirees and other shortly retiring should train/groom young central bankers to fill future top vacancies! Hope there is a good HR division to lead the succession planning in CBSL!
