A charming chase
Sitting for two and half hours, 148 minutes to be exact (at a stretch), 007 or James Bond manages to keep us with fingers crossed and make us slightly nervous at times.
The film opens in Mexico City, with city parade and there is Bond who is in a chase of his enemy. Sniffer shooting, blasting of building, topsy-turvy helicopter journey just above the public square hold the breath of its viewers.
This follows an unending chase until caught in a web of time bomb fixed in the MI6 building itself. Returning director Sam Mendes takes Bond (and the viewer too) around several continents until they all meet in London.
All these starts with a cryptic message from the past which leads James Bond (Daniel Craig) to Mexico City and Rome, where he meets the beautiful widow (Monica Bellucci) of a notorious criminal. After infiltrating a secret meeting, 007 uncovers the existence of the sinister organization SPECTRE.
Needing the help of the daughter of an old nemesis, he embarks on a mission to find her. As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he discovers a chilling connection between himself and the enemy (Christoph Waltz) he seeks.
Joining Daniel (who returns to 007 for the fourth times) are, Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott, Rory Kinnear, Jesper Christensen, Alessandro Cremona and Stephanie Sigman.
‘Spectre’ is now being screened at Savoy-Wellwawatte, MC- Platinum, Empire – Gold, Liberty Lite, Excel Cinema in Colombo and several outstation theatres including Cinemax – Ja-Ela, Sinexpo – Kurunegala, NIT – Kurunegala, NIT- Ratnapura, Willmax – Anuradhapura, Queens – Galle, Sky Lite – Matara, Don Plaza – Kalutara and MC-Platinum – Jaffna.
