Wasantha de Zoysa killing: Four more suspects in custody
View(s):Four more suspects allegedly involved in the attack on a nightclub in Anuradhapura, and the murder of its owner, were taken into custody, raising the number arrested to 32, said a senior Police officer involved in the investigations.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Athula Weerasinghe told the Sunday Times that police believe all the suspects wanted in connection in the attack and murder of Wasantha de Zoysa and all supportive evidence too has been found.Investigations revealed that the attack was intended to show that it was a revenge attack on the club owner who had reportedly assaulted an army Major, when the latter visited the club a few weeks before the incident.
Chief suspect Tyronne Ranasinghe was arrested this week after a police decoy got through to him. Based on a telephone call received by the brother of the main suspect, police found that Ranasinghe had spoken to him using the phone of a friend who was previously employed in a hotel in Anuradhapura, and was involved in the attack too. Police tracked down the suspect to a location in Chilaw and arrested him.
