View(s):Out goes the secret ballot
In future all decisions at sports meetings is to be taken by the show of hands only. The secret ballot has been abolished! This decision has been taken by the Sports Boss.
This move will certainly eradicate the underhand dealings of sports big wigs, who have been playing double games.
The Sports Boss has told his close confidantes that the Secret Ballot had been a ‘bug bear’ and the cancellation of it is bound to be great boon to sports development.
Trouble for Dr. Kedara
Dr. Kedara from Matara is in big trouble these days. Already there is a million dollar question looming over his head.
Besides they say they have some outstanding for international matches and these caterers are wondering when they will be compensated.
Not qualified
The Sports Boss came down hard on some sports officials who had promoted themselves at a popular sport. The reason given by the Sports Boss is that they are not qualified to hold those positions.
He has asserted that 3/4 of officials holding posts at this sports body are not fit to hold their positions.
Cancellation of Tenders
Again the Sports Boss has intervened in the submitting of tenders of a key sports body. This time even a top official has been caught.
Earlier happenings of this sort had been put under the carpet but this time the alert Sports Boss had cancelled all these tenders.
The Drugs Menace
Musclemen who were to take part in a competition in far off Spain did not proceed to the event after all! The reason being they were asked to appear for a Drugs Test and none of them turned up for that.
Their reason was that they had no coach or official to offer them any advice. A similar incident took place a couple of years back when a South Asian Beach Sports Festival was cancelled as the players refused to take part in a Drugs Test.
It looks as if drugs have found a permanent spot in sports activities these days.
Smooth riding
The Anuradhapura Cycling Nationals went off smoothly despite the fact that some people wanted the event to be a big flop without the participation of some leading cyclists.
Some officials were apparently seen going from house to house discouraging would be cyclists from taking part in the event by taking away their Cycling Licenses issued by the sport’s governing body. But a timely meeting by the organisers cut short any plans for sabotage.
