St. Mary’s SC emerge champions for third successive year
St. Mary’s SC Navanthurai emerged champions of the 3rd Milo Challenge Trophy soccer tournament for the third successive year when they coasted to an easy four goals to nil over St. Anthony’s Passaiyoor in the final played at Jaffna Football League Stadium ground in Ariyalai.
The champions led 1-0 at the breather from a goal scored by A. Jennat and then followed it up by scoring three more goals in the second session of play with A. Jude scoring a double and the other coming off the boot of Anton Charles.In the third place play off saw Young Kambans SC Kambarmalai recording a close one nil win over Navajeevans SC Udupiddy with S. Kugarathan scoring the goal in the first half.
The 3rd Milo Challenge conducted by the Jaffna District Secretariat and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd under the brand Milo saw the participation of 100 teams.The preliminary round matches were played in six venues around the Jaffna peninsula at Point Pedro, Velanaiyanar, Valikaman, Vadamarachchi, Maruthankeny and Jaffna

Navajeevans SC Udupiddy beat Nasareth SC Punguduthivu 3-1. Young Kambans SC Kambarmalai beat Iyanar SC Thuraiyoor 4-3. St. Mary’s Navanthurai beat Five Start SC Arali 9-0. St. Anthony’s Passaiyoor beat Valvai SC Valvettihurai 2-0.
Semi-finals:
St. Mary’s SC Navanthurai beat Navajeevans SC Udupiddy 4-0. St. Anthony’s Passaiyoor beat Young Kambans SC Kambarmalai 3-0.
Final:
St. Mary’s SC Navanthurai beat St. Anthony’s Passaiyoor 4-0.
