Jith returns with the spirit of the season in Stars on Parade
View(s):Get into the spirit of the season with Jith Peiris’ ‘Stars on Parade’, which returns for a second edition this year as ‘Stars on Parade at Christmas’. The show, which will be held on November 28 and 29 at the Lionel Wendt will once again raise funds for a charitable cause.
The Creative Arts Foundation spearheaded by Jith has traditionally raised funds for school supplies for children, including schoolbags, books and uniforms.
His concert in April raised funds for children affected by landslides around the country and he says that this time too a portion of these funds will be directed towards their wellbeing.
The audience can also expect to hear from two young speakers who will share details about a national campaign addressing child abuse and harassment, a cause that the director-and no doubt his audience- feel strongly about.
At the concert, you can expect performances from the Soul Sounds Junior Academy Choir, the Menaka Singers, the Stafford International School Choir and other guest performances from a variety of artists (read next week’s Sunday Times Magazine to find out).
They will perform Broadway hits interspersed with a healthy dose of Christmas songs-after all, “what’s a Christmas show without the seasonal music,” laughs the director.
‘Stars on Parade at Christmas’ goes on the boards of the Lionel Wendt on November 28 and 29 from 7.30 p.m. Tickets and box plan available at the Wendt from November 16.
