A group of former executive committee of SLC comprising Upali Dharmadasa, Mohan de Silva, Asanga Senavirathna , Nishantha Ranatunga, Hirantha Perera, Ajit Pasquel on behalf of the stake holders are of the view that the present Interim Committee is giving false picture of the situation at hand.

A communiqué issued by the above say “We refer to the article published in the Sunday Times of last week and the statement made by Mr Sidath Wettimuny – Chairman Interim Committee last week regarding the healthy financial situation that Sri Lanka, we make the following clarification”

Cricket is in, at the moment. A recent Financial Statements of the SLC was also published, comparing the finances during their tenure with that of the previous administration. These media releases and statements gives a completely false picture of the actual situation vis-à-vis the SLC Finances, taking full credit for this situation being entirely of their making and not giving any credit to the previous administration who in actual fact, brought in the said cash by their hard work and positive action.

As you may be aware, the reason for such a positive financial situation is due to sponsorships signed by SLC Executive Committees in 2012/13, 2013/15 and the 2015 Cricket World Cup revenue. For purposes of clarity, we give below, the financial inflows successfully concluded by the previous administrations.

1. ICC Revenue from CWC 2015 – 17.5 Million USD.
2. Dialog final instalment 175,975,000 LKR received in the month of June.
3. Tea Board final instalment 179,500,000 LKR received in the month of June.
4. AIA Insurance sponsorship initiated and finalized by the previous Executive Committee – Rupees 20 million.
5. ICL Marketing 5,000,000 LKR initiated and finalized by previous committee.
6. MAS Active 4,000,000LKR initiated and finalized by previous committee.
7. Hameedias 5,000,000 LKR initiated and finalized by previous committee.
8. Ceylon Agri Industries 4,000,000 LKR initiated and finalized by previous committee.
9. Dialog Awards Night 10,000,000 LKR initiated and finalized by previous committee.
10. Hameedias match official sponsorship 1,000,000 initiated and finalized by previous committee.

Total Sponsorship revenue brought in by the previous committee amounts to 404,475,000 LKR. This is in addition to the ICC revenue mentioned above. However it is worth mentioning that SLC lost substantial amount of revenue due to unprofessional and irresponsible management by the present Interim Committee.

1) SLC lost US$ 4 million anticipated revenue from the India-SL Test series. SLC Received only US$ 3.6 million for 3 test matches, whereas the previous Exco signed for the 2017 Indian 3 test match series, US$ 7.5 million (US$ 2.5 million per test match). Anticipated revenue for the 2015 series was US$ 6 million, (US$ 2 million per test based on the 2017 figures.)
2) SLC lost Rs 50 million from the local TV rights. CSN offer was 50 million higher than Rupavahini.

3) Player contracts reduced from 90 to 45, affecting the poor outstation players having to suffer due to no regular income It is considered unethical and its President to take credit for work done by its predecessors and painting a false picture of its ‘efficiency’ and Management skills.

We would like to request Mr Wettimuny to confirm as to how much of revenue the present IC has brought in to SLC for the benign of the readers and the general public.
