Nilendra Deshapriya’s internationally acclaimed film ‘Thanha Rathi Ranga’ garnered most of the awards including the Best picture while Parakrama Jayasinghe’s ‘Que Sera’ won the Best Direction together with the rest of the awards at last week’s Derana Film Awards 2015.

Best Actor and Actress Sarath Kothalawela and Michelle Herft and Most Popular Actor and Actress Ranjan Ramanayake and Dilhani Ekanayake

Nilendra’s film won Best screenplay for Sarath Kothalawala with Kumara Thirimadura, Best Actor Sarath Kothalawala, Best cinematography for Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Best editing for Ravindra Guruge, Best Costume for Methnuwan Wijesinghe and Niluka Vanigarathne, Best Actress in a supporting role Sulochana Weerasinghe and Best make up Narada Thotagamuwa.

Continuing in the footsteps of legendary musician Premasiri Khemadasa, his two daughters Gayathri Khemadasa and Anupa Khemadasa won the Best original music score award for their contribution for ‘Thanha Rathi Ranga’.

Parakrama Jayasinghe’s directorial debut ‘Que Sera’ went on to win the Best Actress award for Michelle Herft, the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Hans Bilimoria, the Best Art Direction for Roshan Warnakulasooriya, Best Actor in a Negative Role for Damith Fonseka and   Best Actor in a Comedy Role for Sando Haris.

The Best Song was awarded for the vocal rendition of Lelum Rathnayake which was penned by Parakrama Jayasinghe with music composed by Somapala Rathnayake.

Politician cum actor and director Ranjan Ramanayaka won the Most Popular Actor award while Dilhani Ekanayake was adjudged the Most Popular Actress.

The award for the Best Visual Effects was won by Chamath Paranavidana for his contribution for ‘Ranja’ while Wasantha Kumarawila won the Best Stunt director for the same film.

‘Cinema of Tomorrow – Best Short Film’ was won by young filmmaker Viraj Liyanarachchi for his film ‘Tharkovsky Meets Godot’ and Cinema of Tomorrow – Best Film was won by Shameera Rangana for his film ‘Motor Bicycle’.

Indika Udugampola who directed The Night is Still Young has won the Cinema of Tomorrow – Most Promising Director award. The Most Popular Singer award was won by Uresha Rvihari for her playback song in ‘Warigapojja’.

The Life Time Achievement award was given to veteran filmmaker Wasnatha Obeysekera.
