Sri Lanka has no plans to issue any travel advisories to its citizens visiting countries which have stepped up security in the wake of recent terror attacks in France, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Mahishini Colonne said.  “I’m not aware of any move within the ministry to issue such advisories,” she told the Sunday Times.

Ms. Colonne was responding to a question whether Sri Lanka would issue any travel advisories for its citizens visiting United States, Britain and France as a precautionary measure in the wake of reported threats to those countries by the Islamic State (IS).
Meanwhile, Britain in its latest travel advisory warned its citizens visiting Sri Lanka of a possible dengue threat. The advisory noted that this year alone, there were more than 22,000 reported cases of suspected dengue fever. It urged the British nationals to take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes while visiting the country.

It also warned its citizens visiting Sri Lanka of underlying threats from terrorist groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria in the context of a global threat against British interests and nationals.

However, countries such as the US and Britain have not issued any travel advisory warning their citizens against visiting France which is under a state of emergency following the terror attacks on November 13.
