Andrea’s seasonal beauties
View(s):The lure of hand-embroidery and handmade lace is timeless. Each piece invariably tells a story of patience, sheer dedication and absolute artistry.
In time for the season Andrea Boekel will present a collection of elegant creations hand-embroidered and embellished with Brussels lace. The sale will be on Saturday, November 28 for one day only at No. 16 Kinross Avenue, Colombo 4, from 9 a.m.
Andrea’s collection has a range of exquisitely worked blouses, skirts, dresses and nightwear worked on the finest linen.
Keeping to a largely pastel and neutral palette that lends itself as a canvas for the beautiful stitching and lacework, the pieces are thoughtfully executed with attention to detail and will withstand years of wear.
The clothes have delicate shadow work and conventional embroidery and swathes of the prized Brussels lace on some pieces.
Adding to the seasonal cheer is Sureni Tennekoon’s collection of children’s wear. Sureni has so far created pieces for a select group of customers, but on this occasion will display her collection that uses the finest cottons, pique and chambray.
