Top TT fare in December
In December Jaffna sports lovers will be able to witness two top Table Tennis championships to be worked off at the Central College tables from December 19 to 22.
The first will be the 3rd All-Island Unranked Championship followed by the second, the All-Island State Services Championship.
The All-Island Unranked Championship will take place at the Central College Jaffna tables from December 19 to 20,. This tournament is organised and conducted by the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme in collaboration with the Jaffna Table Tennis Association.
Events to be held are Boys and Girls Singles in Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-15, Under-18, Under-21 and Singles events for Veteran Men and Women’s in the Over-40 age category, in addition to the main events the Men’s and Women’s Singles.
Entries will close on November 25 and should be sent to Chandana Perera, the Chairman, Organising Committee at No. 51/35, Rukmale, Pannipitiya (Tel: 0777751345/ 0714472400). Draw will be held at the S. Thomas’ Indoor Stadium in Mt. Lavinia on December 5.
On December 21 and 22 the All-Island State Services Knockout Championship 2015 will be held at the same venue conducted by the Sri Lanka State Services Table Tennis Association.
This tournament will be conducted in both Men’s and Women’s categories Singles on the age groups of 20-25 years, 25-30 years, 30-35 years, 35-40 years, 40-45 years, 45-50 years, 50-55 years and 55-60 years.
The Doubles championship is to be conducted for both Men’s and women’s in the age groups of 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50-60 years with Doubles partners has to be from the same department.
Entries for this competition should be forwarded to Sunil Abeygunasekera, the Secretary of Sri Lanka State Services TT Association at No. 29/10, Dharmasoka Mawatha, Aruppola, Kandy (Tel: 0712217087/ 0812212146/ 0812203819) or T.R. Kingsley, the Secretary of Jaffna District TT Association at Central College, Jaffna (Tel: 0779227887) on or before December 25.
The draw will be held at the Kandy Municipal Sports Club on December 30 at 4.00p.m.
