Veteran actress Priya Ranasinghe’s teleplay ‘Ira Awara’ a story of an isolated village, its inhabitants and its outdated customs and traditions will be telecast every weekday at 8.30 pm from December 1.
The teledrama stars Palitha Silva, Sujani Menaka, Iranganie Serasinghe, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela, Madhani Malwatte, Ajith Lokuge, Giriraj Kaushalya, Deepani Silva, Nethali Nananayakkara, Mahendra Weeraratne, Sampath Jayaweera, Rupa Pathirana, Nimini Buwaneka, Ajith Shantha, Nimal Jayasinghe and Dee Gee Somapala.
The teledrama opens with a scene of a 15-year-old girl being found in a secluded place of a remote village. The girl is Deepa whose mother has passed away and lived with her father. It is later revealed that she was being isolated after she was abused by a villager.
According to the accepted custom in the village a girl who was subjected to an abuse was not married by anyone and she was destined to commit suicide. However this courageous girl is determined to not give in archaic customs and beliefs but to fight the injustice caused to her.
The headman who wants to erase the black mark caused with this incident, gets his son Kamal to take the girl away from the village and kill her.

Kamal who takes Deepa does not return and the both Deepa’s father and Kamal’s father starts the search for their children. Will they be ever find? Who has abused Deepa and will the perpetrator be ever punished?
