St. Sebastian carols: ‘Christ our Hope’
View(s):‘Christ our Hope’, a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Western Choir of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, will be held next Sunday, December 6, at the College Auditorium, at 6.30 p.m.
This 13th consecutive Carol Service of the college will be graced by the Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Fernando and will include the nine lessons dealing with the story of humanity falling from grace, the promise of the Messiah to come and the birth of Jesus, interspersed with carols, hymns and choral music. There will also be a guest performance by the choir of Our Lady of Victories Convent, Moratuwa.
From 2003 to 2012, the Sebastianite Choir flourished under Fr. Prasad Niranjan Fernando, a distinguished old boy. When he left for studies overseas, the Rector of the College, Fr. Bonnie Fernandopulle became Patron of the choir until May 2015, after which Fr. Vincent Ashley took charge of the choir. The choir is now under Master-in-Charge and trainer, Sanjeeva Silva and trainer Shihan Chamba.
