Akira’s trendy wear now in Nugegoda
View(s):Akira, a 100% Sri Lankan produced fashion brand launched by brothers Akila and Ravinath Sannasgala has opened its doors at No. 53, Railway Avenue, Nugegoda, showcasing a range of casual and corporate wear for men and women.
The first two syllables of the brothers’ names helped form the name AKIRA. The word means brightness, intelligent or clear in Japanese and in Sanskrit, women are named AKIRA, meaning graceful strength.
Managing Director Ravinath says, “After realizing the huge gap in wearable and unique designer clothes available around, Akira stumbled on the aspiration of emphasizing fashionable entities such as the trendy lungi kit and handloom designs where people can choose from a wide range of designs to wear for any occasion.”
Their range thus includes kurtha tops and blouses for working women, lungi kits and menswear in handloom, linen and batik.
The brand has been present in the Sri Lankan market for over ten years and the materials used are woven at the company’s own garment factories.
