Alaskan Attackers beat Charging Wolves to win the ShipX Cricket Challenge which was part of the day-long Annual Sports Festival of ShipXpress, held at the D.S. Senanayake ground in Wijerama Mawatha recently. Despite cricket being the main attraction other sports activities were also held where a large participation of staff members lightened up the day.

The final stages of the carrom and badminton tournaments are still underway with matches scheduled for weekends at the ShipXpress office premises. The finale of the Cricket Challenge was the pinnacle of the day’s events where all staff members of ShipXpress were keenly involved. The tournament featured six teams – Alaskan Attackers, the eventual winners, finalists Charging Wolves, Boldova, Lankan Leopards, Nugegoda Swingers and Sharks Strikers.

Omar Ismail was named the best batsman of the tournament while Samith Keshan emerged the best bowler. Among female players who were featured in the tournament, Lakmini Abedeera became the best batter while Dinethri Megasooriya was named the best bowler.

The winning team captained by Amila Kashyapa included Dinethri Megasooriya, Dixon Gunasekara, Eros Kodagoda, Lakmini Abeydeera, Nuwan Jayasinghe, Pradeep Kumara, Thusith Perera, Trevor Soris and Uchinda Padmaperuma. Sudeera Alahapperuma was the Manager of the team. Pix by  Amila Gamage
