BRC record third successive outright win
BRC recorded their third successive outright win of the Emerging Trophy cricket tournament when they routed Police SC by nine wickets with a day to spare in the match concluded at the Police Park yesterday.
This was also the third successive time that BRC have demolished their opponents within two days.
The second day’s play saw BRC in reply to the home team’s score of 112 resuming on their overnight score of 142 for 5 made 184. Police SC batting the second time with a deficit of 72 runs fared better but were bowled out for 181 runs.
BRC left with a run chase of 110 for victory were given a solid start by openers Maduranga Zoysa and Lisula Lakshan who put on 75 runs in just 45 balls which paved the way for them to race to the target in just 17 overs.
Lankan CC resuming on their overnight score of 279 for 7 which came off a ton scored by Sisira Kumara and half tons by Thushira Madanayake and Chamara de Soysa went on to make 309 against Panadura SC in the match played at Panadura Esplanade.
Panadura SC in their turn after being in a strong position of 100 for the lost three quick wickets and collapsed to a score of 115 for 4.
The match between Kurunegala YCC and Kalutara TC being played at the Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala was poised for an interesting finish when play stopped for lunch on day two.
Kalutara TC in reply to the home teams’ score of 278 resuming on their overnight score of 82 for 3 was bundled out for 129. Bu they struck back to take five wickets to have Kurunegala YCC struggling on 52 for 5.
Kalutara PCC posted a formidable score of 335 from their overnight score of 242 for 5 against Moratuwa SC in the morning session of play in the match played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
There was no play in the morning session of play on day in the match between Navy SC and Air Force SC at Welisara.
