Mahela slams career best knock of 212
Mahela Udawatte slammed a career best knock of 212 helping Moors SC make a formidable score of 392 against SLPA CC in the AIA Premier League cricket encounter played at the CCC ground.
The right hand batsman’s marathon innings came off 302 balls which comprised 19 boundaries and three sixes. Mahela was also involved in four fruitful partnerships first of 99 runs for the third wicket with Sachitra Serasinghe followed by 73 runs for the fifth wicket with Kaushalya Gajasinghe, 84 runs for the sixth wicket with skipper Chathuranga de Silva and 58 runs with Dilhara Lokuhettige for the eighth wicket before being the last man out. SLPA CC in their turn went into lunch with the score on 95 for 3.
Chamara Silva and Harsha Vithana cracked tons while Rumesh Buddika hit a half ton for Galle CC against Colts in the match played at the Colts ground.
Chamara made an impressive 136 inclusive of 19 boundaries and three sixes while Harsha scored 112 with eight boundaries and two sixes.
Galle CC were in deep trouble as they lost three wickets for just one run on the board when Chamara and Rumesh Buddika rescued the innings with a 116 run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Chamara then added 176 runs for the fifth wicket with Harsha to end their innings make a score of 376. Colts in reply went into lunch on 140 for 3.
A top knock of 94 by opener Niroshan Dickwella and an unbeaten 74 by Tharindu Kaushal enabled NCC resuming on their overnight score of 326 for 8 make 365 against Bloomfield who went in to lunch on day two on 79 for 1 in the match played at the NCC ground.
SSC openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Minod Bhanuka sent the Badureliya SC bowlers on a leather hunt as they were associated in an unbroken 196 stand to put the side in a strong position when play stopped for lunch in the match played at Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
The opening day’s play saw Badureliya SC taking first lease of the wicket helped by half tons from Sahan Wijeratne and Hasantha Fernando make 254.
Chilaw Marians were 126 for 2 in reply to Ragama CC’s 257 at lunch on day two in the match played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake while Tamil Union took the upper hand against Saracens SC in the match played at the Army ground in Mattegoda.
