Gregory’s Lake fast turning into garbage dump

However of late, a rather unsightly mess is building up to the left of the lake along the Ihala Wewa road due to it becoming a place for dumping garbage.
The Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Mahinda Dodanpegamage when queried about inaction regarding the big stink that is destroying the scenic beauty of the Lakeand its surrounds said the Urban Development Authority had taken over the area nearly a decade ago from the Municipal Council (MC).
He said if the UDA hands the area back to the MC, they can act to clear the garbage and stop the area becoming a garbage dump.
