LAUGHING UP THEIR SLEEVES

The event was the big sports meet at a leading sports stadium. The chief guest was on the verge of delivering his speech to the huge audience over the microphone when his mobile phone rang. Completely forgetting that he was on the verge of delivering his speech over the public address system, the chief guest started lambasting the caller. The packed stadium who had gathered to hear the chief guest’s words too heard the strong words used by the chief guest and some were shocked while others started laughing up their sleeves.
NOT SATISFIED
All eyes are now focused in the big sports event to be held in a neighbouring country in early February. A big contingent will take wing in three batches to the destination. However there is a crew who are not satisfied with the arrangements. This comes from a leading TV station as they say that the number of personnel requested from this group has been overlooked. So they have decided to simply ignore the event. So do not expect wide coverage on the event from this group.
SUPPORTING THEIR CANDIDATE
There is a certain lot who seems to have taken permanent lodgings at a leading sports body. This lot supported the winning candidate and they say that they are waiting behind to see that nothing goes wrong with the happenings of their candidate.
KHO-KO-KHO
No! It is not the sound of the koha, the bird that makes the famous cry when the Sinhala New Year is nearing. This is the name of a new game that is taking place at the Games in a neighbouring country in early February. Sri Lanka too is sending a team for this sport. The manager of this team is a person who took a team to Italy a few years back and decided to stay back in that country with the team in search of greener pastures. He is back now and is taking this new sports team to the Games. A film too was made on this trip to Italy.
MUSCLE POWER
The chief muscleman went to meet the director general about a meeting that he was summoned to attend. The strange thing is that the director general seemed to have forgotten what the issue was all about. The muscled guy let loose at the director general for his memory lapse; after all he had the muscle power to do it as well.
COLD WAR
A Cold War seems to exist between the two leading sports organisation regarding the fast approaching Games. This was evident when at a function to bid farewell to the team going to the Games when the Sports Boss came in the Boss of the other organisation discreetly decided to leave the function.
