McLarens and three banks in semis

McLarens Group along with three Banks, Std. Chartered Bank, Pan Asia Bank and Nations Trust Bank ‘A’, advanced to the semi-finals of the 5th Prestige Automobile (Pvt) Ltd., sponsored, ‘BMW-Hyundai’ Cup, MCA ‘C’ division 50-Over League Tournament 2016, all winning their quarter-final matches played last weekend.
Mahil Jerome (57), S. Hettiarachchi (55) and Asantha Solomon (75 not out in 39 balls, inclusive of six sixes and half a dozen fours) scored quick-fire half centuries, as unbeaten, McLarens Group batting first amassed to 309 for 7 in 50-overs and went home to tea, beating Airport and Aviation Services by a massive margin of 180 runs.
Useful innings by Charith Satarasinghe (64) helped Standard Chartered Bank to gain a 31 runs win over Colombo Dockyard. A notable all-round performance by C. Sansaka (3 for 29 and 59 not out) propelled Pan Asia Bank to a crushing nine-wicket win over HSBC ‘A’. Charith de Silva (55) and T. Lakshan (51) put on 82 runs for the third wicket, to hand over Nations Trust Bank ‘A’ a convincing five-wicket win over Peoples Leasing and Finance. – LR
