Orthodontics in Paradise
View(s):The first International Orthodontic Conference in Sri Lanka on the theme, ‘Vistas in Orthodontics in Paradise’, is being held under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Orthodontic Society (SLOS) at Hotel Galadari.

The sessions which began on February 5 will end tomorrow (February 8), with the participation of many eminent local and international Orthodontists from the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan,Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and India.
While the conference has brought together a cross-section of local Orthodontists from the state and private sectors as well as the universities and the armed forces, there has been much sharing of knowledge on the latest developments in orthodontics. Original research papers have been presented while there has also been an exchange of views and updating of knowledge during the plenaries, symposia and workshops.
A leading Orthodontist from the University of Western Australia, Dr. Mithran Goonewardene who has a special interest in the development of orthodontic services in Sri Lanka, is the Co-Chairman of the Scientific Sessions and will conduct a post-congress workshop with Prof. Profitt. The SLOS was formed in 1999 and is the only professional body representing this specialty in the country.
