Coins in our early books are described, to be of gold, silver, copper or its alloy, of lac or gum off trees. They may be of wood or bamboo where a symbol was marked and even of palmyra leaf where a symbol is raised upon or cut, of seed, fruits etc., marked or unmarked.
The finds of a large variety of coin sets, made of gold, silver and copper will be presented in a chronological order as found during excavations, in relation to the old stories of the Mahawansa and on rock inscriptions.

He also maintains a blog on coins of Sri Lanka. He was the Secretary and later President of the Numismatist Society of Sri Lanka.
