Pin Fernando award for Hemantha
Priya Hemantha (27) won the Pin Fernando award as the best senior ranked golfer at the award ceremony held in the Sri Lanka golf union yesterday. Meanwhile Akash Thangadorai (17), ended as the best junior ranked golfer.
The ranking system was worked out, taking into account the points accumulated in the tournaments held from year 2014-2015.
Hemantha gathered 4520 points at the end. He was attracted to the game initially as a caddy and plays for the Victoria Golf Club, Kandy. He is involved in the game for the last 11 years. And he clinched the Pin Fernando award last year as well. His main ambition is to play in the Indian circuit.
Meanwhile, junior winner Thangadorai gathered 1075 points. A student of Susamyawardhena Vidayala, Borella, he was attracted to the game of golf, mainly due to his uncle Nadaraja Thangadorai, a senior golfer, who plays in the Indian circuit.
