Pawan Dias continues to dominate
View(s):As the third week of the 37th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2016 contest proceeds, Pawan Dias of Royal College Panadura continue to dominate the All-Island Schools category with a comprehensive lead over close rivals. Pawan received 210 votes during the ended week and sits 327 votes ahead of his closest threat, Lakshina Rodrigo of St. Peter’s College. Lakshina has had a less collection of votes compared to the first two weeks, but the competition itself is too premature to hint on a certain winner still.
At third is Ravin Sayer of Trinity College while Malshan Rodrigo of St. Joseph’s College and Lahiru Thambawita of Holy Cross College continues at third, fourth and fifth respectively for the third week running. The rest of the lineup, up to 20, remains the same with slight changes in standings. However weeks to come could bring surprises with many changes in line.
Madawa Fernando’s of De La Salle College Mutwal is the only name to appear in the Emerging Schools category and he seems to be in a position to dominate this segment right till the end. The International Schools category is yet to kick off. Coupons of the 37th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2015 will appear on Wijeya Newspaper’s dailies, the Daily Mirror and Lankadeepa and also its weekend English issue, the Sunday Times and the Sinhala weekly Deshaya. Readers will be able to send in as much as coupons in favour of their favourite schoolboy cricketer until mid May.
