International brand ‘The Body Shop’ with its new outlet launch in Colombo, plans to expand further in Sri Lanka, says Trevor Rajaratnam, Director of The Body Shop Sri Lanka. He made this comment to the Business Times on the sidelines of the launch of its second outlet at the Fairline Building in Kollupitiya on Monday. Mr. Rajaratnam said, “In December last year we opened a small outlet under the Softlogic franchise at the Odel in Colombo 07, showcasing our products directly imported from the UK. He noted that sales at the Odel outlet have picked up during two months of the shop’s presence in Sri Lanka. “A mix of consumers both foreign and local buy our products and mostly it’s the locals.” In terms of the company’s investment, Mr Rajaratnam stated that employment opportunities are created for people and special training will be provided to its employees. This is a one-stop-shop where everything is available within the same outlet, he noted. Jacqueline Fernandez, Brand Ambassador of The Body Shop in Sri Lanka at the launch said, “The Body Shop is going to be a gift to thousands of consumers in Sri Lanka who have waited long for the brand. I am confident that consumers will feel good every time they walk inside the stores and enjoy the products.”
