View(s):Homework – a nightmare
Homework literally is the work given from school to do at home. Many teachers give their students homework. There are many advantages and disadvantages of homework.
Many children dislike homework mainly because they don’t have any free time to have a break when they come home after a tough day at school. So they get stressed out and impatiently wait for the weekend. Children always with books will be anti-social and also will be physically weak with no exercise.
The main reason teachers give homework is to cover the syllabus. And by giving homework the children can be occupied and won’t get bored. But mostly children like to play and have fun rather than doing homework. So it’s better if children get a limited amount of homework so we can do sports and studies equally.

The reward I got through education
I was born into a rich family. When I was small, I thought that money was everything. I was proud and rude. My mother often advised me not to be so proud. But I thought she was wrong.
I was proud to be rich.
One day, while crossing the road, we met with an accident. My mother was injured badly. She was very serious. People took us to the hospital but it was too late to save my mother. It was a great loss for me. I felt like I stood alone in the darkness.
I realized that being rich I could buy everything I wanted but could not help my mother who was suffering and dying. This showed that money isn’t everything we need. You can buy everything with money but not the one you love the most.
Then something struck my mind. I wanted to research about something that would last forever and which cannot be destroyed. Can you guess what is? It is education. I studied hard from then on. I passed all my exams and won a scholarship to enter medical college.
I studied hard and at last reached my goal. I became a heart surgeon and was able to make my mother’s dream come true. I helped the poor, had free campaigns in the slums and did free health check-ups.
I thank my education for all these rewards. I would especially like to give a message for the younger generation, “Study hard and you can reach your goals. Follow the right track and follow your dreams!”

Let’s protect wild animals
Among the resources which we have got from nature, wild animals play a major role. Wild animals help to beautify the environment. Yala, Kumana, Wilpattu and Maduru Oya are some of their habitats. But these valuable wild animals are vanishing rapidly. Clearing jungles and huge development projects are the main causes of this destruction. Polythene and plastic are another cause.
They are very harmful to living beings.
These wild animals maintain
eco-system equality. If we destroy wild animals our earth will be a desert. We must not dirty our habitats with polythene and plastic. We must manage development projects to minimize damage.

I went to the zoo
Once I went to the zoo with my funny little friends. I was in a hurry and wondering to see my little friends. In the morning I got up, got ready and ran to the bus. We sang, danced and had our breakfast.
We arrived at the zoo in the morning. And we were waiting in a line to enter. We saw the big aquarium with various fishes. And we were happy to see butterflies flying here and there.
I took photos of lions, snakes and turtles.
We fed the gorillas. We played with monkeys. We had our lunch and ended our wonderful trip. It was the happiest day in my life.

Food
Every living thing must have food to stay alive. Food produces the energy and the materials that each animal or plant needs and uses. To make carbohydrates, green plants must have materials that contain these elements. Green plants get three elements, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They need them to make carbohydrates from water in the soil and carbon dioxide in the air.
Two of the foods that green plants make are sugar and starch and these are called carbohydrates. Water, which is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen is found in the soil around the roots. Air is found around the stems and leaves and the carbon dioxide is a compound of carbon and oxygen.
