Mini-hospital at Royal College grounds
View(s):Royal College grounds turned into a mini-hospital, as the Royal College Doctors’ Association (RCDA) paid obeisance to teachers in a different form by giving of their time and skills at the Annual Medical Screening Programme 2016 held on February 21.
Organised in collaboration with the Royal College Past Teachers’ Association, around 180 doctors including specialists of the RCDA attended on 300 present and past teachers and also their families.
Initially screened by Royalist doctors, the teachers were able to get a wide range of blood tests done under the screening programme. Thereafter, the teachers were able to access RCDA Specialists in fields ranging from General Medicine to Respiratory Medicine; Neurology to Nephrology, Cardiology to Gynaecology; Oncology to Radiology; General Surgery to Dental Surgery and many more.
Those needing further investigations were able to get ECG, Ultrasound Scanning, 2D Echo and Spirometry on the spot while follow-ups are to be arranged at tertiary care level. While free reading glasses were offered, spectacles were provided at discounted rates by a leading company. Advanced physiotherapy sessions were also carried out by professional physiotherapists using hi-tech equipment under the guidance of Rheumatologists and Orthopaedic Surgeons, with a Clinical Nutritionist conducting a session on good dietary habits.
Each teacher took home a ‘Health Record File’ designed by the RCDA, to facilitate further reference and follow-up.
This is the 17th consecutive medical screening programme arranged by the RCDA. Mini-hospital at Royal College grounds
