Madawa, Nipun help Bloomfield fight back
Bloomfield in reply to Chilaw Marians score of 346 made a bold reply of 357 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of second day’s play in the Premier Plate championship match at the FTZ Grounds, Katunayake. Resuming from their overnight score of 63 for no loss, the Reid Avenue club overtook the Marians’ total thanks to a knock of 100 by Madawa Warnapura and a half ton by Nipun Karunanayake who were associated in a huge partnership.
Army SC took a first innings lead over SLPA CC in the match played at the CCC ground. Army SC, after being restricted to a score of 202, struck back after Seekkuge Prasanna’s seven-wicket haul helped them to bowl SLPA CC 131. SLPA resumed from their overnight score of 77 for 4, but could not gather momentum. Badureliya SC were 288 for 9 in reply to Saracens SC’s 374 when play stopped on the second day in the match played at Panagoda.
