Pawan Dias of Royal College Panadura continues to waft ahead as the leader of the All-Island Schools category in the fourth week of the 37th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2016. Last week he had a healthy lead, and by today Pawan has moved further ahead to reach 1482 votes. Pawan sits 868 votes ahead of his closest rival Lakshina Rodrigo of St. Peter’s College and looks to have slowed down his pace a bit. It took three weeks for Lahiru Thambawita of Holy Cross College to make a surprising move as takes hold of the third slot, pushing Trinity College skipper Raveen Sayer a place down. During the ended week Lahiru received 177 votes, sufficient enough to jump two steps forward. As fifth is Malshan Rodrigo of St. Peter’s College. Sachinda Gamadikari of Maris Stella College and Sammu Ashan of Ananda College managed to move two places up and are now at 15th and 17th places respectively. Other than that the rest of the lineup remains the same. However weeks to come could bring surprises with many changes in line.

For the fourth week running Madawa Fernando’s of De La Salle College Mutwal is the only contender to appear in the Emerging Schools category and he seems to be in a position to dominate this segment right till the end. The International Schools category is yet to kick off.
