French cinema at AF Colombo
View(s):Alliance Française de Colombo in its weekly film screening will showcase two films LOL (Laughing Out Loud ) directed by Lisa Azuelos and ‘Le Capital’ directed by Costa Gavras.
Screening at 6.30p.m on March 23, LOL (Laughing Out Loud), a 2009 French comedy is about a teenage girl whose life is split among her studies in a prestigious Parisian high school, her secret diary, her friends, boyfriends, her divorced parents, drugs, and sexuality.
For her performance in the film, Sophie Marceau won the Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival Jury Prize for Best Actress in 2008. Christa Theret received a César Award Nomination for Most Promising Actress in 2010.
‘Le Capital’ screening at 3p.m on March 29th and at 6.30p.m on March 30 is a French drama about ruthless ambition, power struggle, greed and deception in the international world of finance.
Made in 2012, the film follows an executive who is appointed the new CEO of a large French bank, and upsets the bank’s board of directors when he begins to take unilateral control of the bank, laying off a large number of employees and making a corrupt deal with the head of an American hedge fund.
The film subtitled in English will be screened at the auditorium of Alliance Française de Colombo, at 11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.
