The fifth Battle of the Golden Lions the big match between Rahula College Matara and Dharmapala College Pannipitiya was heading for a draw. Rahula batting first scored 213 runs in their first innings mainly due to patient knock by left hand opening batsman Piruna Hewamadduma who was unlucky to be out on 97.

Dharmapala were 61/3 at close of play with skipper Himasha Liyanage 12 not out and Khanishka Jayasundera 16 not out as night watchmen.  Rahula 213 in 76.3 overs (Piruna Hewamadduma 97, Sasith Manuranga 19, Hasindu Sankalpa 14, Dishan Sandaruwan 17 not out, Bimantha Lakpriya 2/22, Chamindu Samarasinghe 3/56) Dharmapala 61/3 in 16 overs (Khanishka Jayasundera 16 not out, Himasha Liyanage 12 not out)  - PDS
