Army and MAS Southern top Boxing nationals
View(s):Sri Lanka Army and MAS Southern won the Men’s and Women’s championships at the 88th ABA Boxing nationals 2015 held at the Sports Ministry Indoor Stadium, Torrington Square Colombo recently. Sri Lanka Army clinched five Gold medals to be the champions and Sri Lanka Navy won three gold medals to be the runner-up in the men’s category. In the women’s events MAS Southern by winning four gold medals was crowned the champions while MAS Thuruliya finished runner-up by winning two golds.
P.V.D.D. Saparamadu of Slimline ‘A’ adjudged Men’s Best Boxer and K.A.D. Dharmatilaka of Thuruliya won the Best Boxer’s award for women. M.Y.M. Dilshan of SLAF and D.L.S. Sandarekha of MAS Southern won the awards for being the men’s and women’s Best Losers. The Most Outstanding Boxer the Year for 2015 was won by N.G.S. Jayaweera of Slimline ‘A’. Sri Lanka Army bagged the award for the Most Successful team of the Year 2015.
