UAE Falcons too much for Colombo Lions

In an International American Football fixture played this year for the first time, the Falcons from Emirates American Football League (EAFL) UAE , smashed Colombo Lions of Elite Football League India (EFLI) by 64 points to nil at the Race course yesterday. The game played in four quarters, the Falcons outplayed the local team in all departments of the game. The game of American football is now getting popular here in Sri Lanka. The game was established here six years back and for the first time teams from India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan participated in a triangular tournament in year 2012 at the Sugathadasa stadium.
Now the game is getting firmly established in Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Jaffna. The South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT), for the second successive year sponsored the Elite Football League India (EFLI). The renewal of the sponsorship by SAGT, is a fillip to the game and to become popular throughout the island. Also EFLI held two youth training camps on April 1st at the Race course and today at Sri Rahula College grounds, Katugastota from 3.30pm onwards.
