An attempt by the Rolling Stones to perform a few songs outside a gallery on in London was refused by residents. The occasion was to mark the opening of an exhibition containing memorabilia spanning over 50 years of the Stones, including instruments, letters, posters and costumes at London’s Saatchi Gallery in the Chelsea. The iconic group was only due to play five songs, but the residents had none of it. The exhibition will go on till September.

Will Avicii retire at 26? That’s a big question with the answer none of us can give. Avicii announced he will be taking a break after his current tour ends later this year. The 26 year old Swede whose real name is Tim Bergling has said according to reports he had no plans to make further music in the near future fuelling speculation he may be considering retiring. However Avicii has also not ruled out total retirement from the music business. In 2015 he took a break but made a comeback with plans for a third album. He has recently collaborated with Coldplay on the song ‘Hymn For The Weekend’.  The electronic musician, DJ, remixer and producer has had three major global hit songs with ‘Level’, ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Hey Brother’.

Beyonce is making a new album that features collaborations with Adele, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean and her husband Jay Z. The album is expected to contain 16 tracks and also likely to include the song ‘Formation’ which she performed at the Super Bowl in February. She also announced The Formation World Tour of North America and Europe. Her last album was titled ‘Beyonce’ which was released in December 2013.   

The University of Adelaide in Australia has decided to name a faculty for students wishing to pursue contemporary music after the singer Sia. The faculty will be named the Sia Furler Institute for Contemporary Music & Media. Sia has given the university permission to use her name. The singer and songwriter lived in Adelaide and also had her education there.

Mike Posner has secured a third week at the No: 1 position on the UK singles chart with his song ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’. Thanks to the Norwegian duo Seeb who remixed Posner’s acoustic original, the song is now a hit in the UK and many other countries.

While most songs remained unchanged on the UK top 10, Sia’s ‘Cheap Thrill’s took a four notch climb from 8 to 4 on the top 10. The song originally written for Rihanna but then she rejected it. The electropop track is taken from Sia’s album ‘This Is Acting’ and is her 4th UK top 10 hit song. ‘Cheap Thrills’ could make a bid for the UK No: 1 next week.

Pink is to release a single titled ‘Just Like Fire’ on 15th April. It will be her first release in three years. Pink has co-written the song with Max Martin. The song will be for the Disney sequel to Alice Through The Looking Glass.
