Unbeaten Colombo FC in the lead

Unbeaten Colombo FC overcame Saunders SC by two goals to nil in the City Football League President’s Trophy at the City Football Complex yesterday.
This was Colombo FC’s second win in the competition. Last Saturday they beat Renown FC 3-0.
Four leading teams in the City Football League are taking part in this competition. They are Colombo FC, Saunders SC, Java Lane SC and Renown SC.
At the end of the first half Colombo FC led 1-0. During the second half in the 57th minute W.H.A.D.W. Hettiarachchi of Saunders was shown the Red Card and was ordered out. Colombo FC’s M.S. Siya Ousmand was shown the Red Card in the 60th minute.
The second half was played for a major part with both sides fielding nine players each. Saunders had more opportunities of scoring goals but their attack was weak and they missed scoring several times.
Colombo FC’s first goal was booted in third minute of the first half by T.F.B. Dimitri, a foreign player. The second goal was netted in the 49th minute by T.R.T. Rizni.
Today Renown SC will take on Java Lane at 4pm at the same venue. There are no matches next week due to the Sinhala New Year.
The last matches in the league round will be played on April 23 and 24. On April 23 Java Lane will meet Colombo FC and on April 24 Saunders will be pitted against Renown.
In the second match of the tournament played last Sunday between Saunders and Java Lane ended in a one all draw.
Colombo FC is currently leading the competition and will in all probability come into the final. From the other section Saunders, Java Lane or Renown are expected to be in the final.
Colombo FC are the current FA Cup and Dialog Champions League winners.
