Virtusa launches ‘Future Architects’ Programme
View(s):Virtusa has launched a ‘Future Architects’ programme to enhance the skills of its senior software consultants and create a competitive edge for business through innovation and creativity. The programme will take place over three months and consists of four assignments, two challenges and continuous evaluation and feedback. The assignments for participants include simulated client problems based on real world situations.
In a media release, Virtusa’s senior director of Technology and chief software architect Thushera Kawdawatta said the company has always invested in its employees in order to reimagine their client’s future.
“Therefore, programmes like this not only help us meet a need in the market but also gives us the opportunity to help these talented individuals grow their skills and meet life goals and aspirations.” Mr. Kawdawatta added that it is important for consultants to get involved in hardcore architectural concepts, best practices and standards and carefully evaluate trade-offs in order to provide optimal business solutions. Isuru Kottachchi, Senior consultant at Virtusa and participant in the programme, said the programme gives engineers hands on experience in thinking outside a defined framework to formulate solutions that meet the needs of the clients.
The release said these solutions are then presented to a panel of judges who will act as the client. Evaluations of the solutions are followed by feedback of the candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, both in the solution as well as in the presentation. A senior consultant and participant Chamika Somasiri added that the success of the programme is justifying and selling solutions to the diverse panel of judges. -(NG)
