This year’s Bradby Fiesta, for the third consecutive year, will be nothing short of spectacular, with former Wallaby Rugby captain and Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) brand ambassador George Gregan will attend the 1st Leg of the 72nd Bradby Shield encounter on April 30. As Trinity and Royal clash in the 1st leg of the Bradby at the Royal College Sports Complex, the Royal College Union (RCU) has worked tirelessly to ensure this year’s Bradby Fiesta at the Bloomfield Grounds, to be the most successful.
Bradby Fiesta Committee Chairman, Rizan Nazeer stated, “As the RCU celebrates its 125 anniversary this year, The Bradby Fiesta has been scaled up to reach even greater heights than the last two. This year’s Fiesta will see the inclusion of an exclusive Rugby zone with exciting Rugby games, courtesy HSBC.” Meanwhile, Head of Marketing & Communication- HSBC, Sri Lanka, Tharanga Gunasekara said, “HSBC, as the main sponsor of the Fiesta for 3 consecutive year, supports popular sports like Rugby Football globally, and we are delighted to leverage on our global Rugby footprint as an international bank to introduce a world class Rugby experience to fans here in Sri Lanka.
The Rugby zone is one that will be very similar to that of the HSBC-Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sevens tournament and other global Rugby tournaments witnessed by the fans. We are happy to present our Rugby ambassador George Gregan here in Sri Lanka. This is undoubtedly going to be a treat for all Rugby fans young and old.” This time around Softlogic Holdings PLC will join in as one of the main sponsors. of the Bradby Fiesta for the first time, while the iconic US automobile brand, Ford will showcase its sought-after vehicle line-up from the Ford Everest to the Focus.
A special game zone for kids will be set up by Milo for the young to enjoy throughout the day. Trinity supporters arriving in Colombo by train, will be received by Royal supporters and the ensuing camaraderie and festive atmosphere will help kick start the Bradby Fiesta in its true spirit. A number of 5-star restaurants will be prepared to dish out great food and beverages in true Hawker Street style, while Sri Lanka’s well known musicians Black, Misty, Bhathiya and Santhush, Sunil Perera, Corrine Almeida and Manilal will rock the stage for an electrifying evening of nonstop live music.
The Royal College Drum Fusion and the Students’ Band will also provide entertainment, in addition to the various carnival attractions. Rugby fans unable to secure a ticket for the Bradby clash, can watch the match on a giant LED screen at the grounds, to cheer their favourite team. Furthermore, all HSBC credit cardholders will be allowed free entrance to the Bradby Fiesta. Other partners of Bradby Fiesta 2016 are Nestle, CEAT, Elephant House Ice Cream and My Cola.
