Avishka ‘ton’ was the highlight while Inosh bags a five-for
St. Sebastian’s College star batsman Avishka Fernando was in roaring form as he scored a match winning knock of 160 to guide Western Province South by 7 wickets in their match against the Central Province in the SLC Super Under-19 Provincial match at the Surrey Village in Maggona yesterday.
Batting first CP was shot out for 140 with Savindu Peiris 2 for 12, Asher Warnakulasuriya 2 for 17 and Dilesh Nanayakkara 2 for 19 sharing the wickets.
The lads from Western Province in their turn made an impressive 300 for 7 in 59.3 overs with the help of Fernando’s century along with another half century by Kamil Mishra who scored 61.
The Central Province lads did not fare much better in the second turn scoring only 195 runs in their second innings to which the winners replied with 37 for 3 in just 6.1 overs.
In the Central Province second inning left arm medium fast bowler Inosh Geeshan bowled well to finish with 5 for 36 while Thilan Nimesh bagged 3 for 38.
