Lankans to face Rio qualifying in Beach Volleyball
The Sri Lanka Beach Volleyball team will take part in the Rio Olympics Beach Volleyball qualifying third round on May 10 in Thailand.
The tournament is the 1016 AVC Continental Cup semi-finals, Final Phase 3 (men and women) from May 12 to 14 at Kalasing, Thailand.
The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) has named this competition as the Asian Central Zone Rio Olympics Beach Volleyball Qualification third round.
The winning teams in this contest will qualify for the 2016 AVC Continental Cup final round to be held in Queensland, Australia. The champions and runners-up at the Australian contest will qualify to take part in the Rio Olympics.
This is the first time that a Sri Lanka Beach Volleyball team is taking part in the Rio Olympics qualifying round.
The Sri Lanka team qualified as the runners-up of the tournament held in India last year (2015).
