Derana Film Awards 2016: ‘Ho Gaana Pokuna’ clinches both Best and Popular Film Awards

In somewhat rare achievement Indika Ferdinando’s debut film ‘Ho Gaana Pokuna’ won both Best film and Most Popular film awards at last week’s Derana Film Awards 2016.
In addition to this, the film also won the ‘Best Music direction’ award for the musical score written by popular Dinesh Subasinghe of Ravana Haththa fame.
Renowned director Prasanna Vithanage won the Best Director award for his film ‘Oba Nathuwa Oba Ekka’ while Kaushalya Fernando won the Best Actress Award for her acting in film ‘Boradiya Pokuna’ made by Satyajith Maitipe. Jackson Anthony won the Best Actor Award for his acting in the film ‘Address Nehe’.
Among other winners are Hemal Ranasinghe-Most Popular Actor – (Pravegaya), Dinakshi Priyasads- Most Popular Actress , Chandana Deshappriya-Best Cameraman, Jayalath Manoratne- Best Actor in a Supportive Role(Ho Gaana Pokuna), Sabeetha Perera- Best Actress in a Supportive Role (Address Neha) and the Best Comedian Actor – Mahendra Perera.
