Music concerts and festivals in Sri Lanka are more common now a days with many international artists visiting our beautiful island. People of all ages have started to enjoy these musical events and are always looking forward to the next fiesta! Coachella 2016, the international music festival where many celebrities attend concluded recently. So this month’s article is about how to draw inspiration from Coachella to put together an outfit for your next festival!

Remember to pick the theme & outfit center piece carefully as mentioned in the beginning.

Most importantly remember outfit is just a fraction of the equation of the fun most of it’s on you! Just let go & enjoy!

The Packing ListThe magic carpet : Carry a shawl or blanket  to sit down on the grass without getting your outfit dirtyKeep it cool: Take a metal bottle with you, so you don’t have to keep buying multiple plastic bottles, instead refill and hey you’d also be doing Mother Nature a favor

Carry your stuff: Pack all your belongings in a stylish ‘back pack’. You won’t be worrying anyone to hold on to your items & you won’t be losing any either.

Cool umbrella/ rain coat: Perfect to have fun even if the weather decides to change.

Safety first: It would be wise to carry some Panadol, plasters etc. in case you hurt yourself. Also would be good to carry tissues & a hand sanitiser.

Crop TopThe ‘Crop Top’ is one of the more popular trends currently among youth. There are so many varieties to choose from. The most sought-after are the ‘Fringe’, ‘Basic Tee’, ‘Bustier’, ‘Lace’ & ‘Sweat shirt’. And for those who don’t like to show much skin could wear a tank top underneath.

Outfit IdeasWhen deciding the outfit, first decide the theme/look your aiming for & the center piece of your outfit. This mostly depends on what you have in your closet or what you might be willing to buy. The most commonly used themes are boho-chic, country, beach themed etc..Maxi Dress

This would be perfect if you want to cover up to save yourself from serious sun burn.  It also is quite comfortable, with the right fabric& would be very soothing. One pointer though is not to wear floor length maxi dresses as you don’t want strangers stepping on you.

DenimThis has always been a more convenient clothing option for anyone. Who wouldn’t own a pair of denims? You could wear jeans & go for the more ‘country’ theme with boots. And for those of you who don’t mind showing some skin, could opt for a mini denim skirt or even cut-out shorts. An advantage of wearing denim in for these events is, regardless of how crazy the night might get, the jeans will not be ruined!

AccessoriesThe accessories depend on the theme & the outfit you are working on. Here are a few tips that you might find useful:Sandals, sneakers would be best suited but you could even wear a pair of gladiator sandals if the length of your outfit is short

Hat, sunblock & sun glasses would be mandatory considering the heat if it’s a day time event. However you could also opt for a cute head band if you are not wearing a hat, pairing it may be with braided hair to channel your inner boho-chic style!

If your outfit already has a lot going on with prints/colours or details then minimize on the earrings & necklaces. But if it’s on the contrary then go full throttle on the jewelry!

Bathing suit: If you’re on a beach or going to be in the hot sun then you could wear a bathing suit underneath your outfit. But make sure your outfit is light & comfortable.

Jump suit/Play suitsJump suits/playsuits are a cute alternative to a two piece outfit. You could just freely move around without having to constantly adjust your clothes. And with the right accessories you could pull off a classy or even funky look. Only downside would be when you have to use the bathroom.
