Kandy Kidney Protection Society appeal
View(s):Kandy Kidney Protection Society appeal Vesak is a time of ‘giving’. The Buddha himself said that ‘Give, even if you only have little’. At this time of year we see many people organising ‘dansal’ in every corner of the country. This story is also about ‘giving’, but quite different from what we see and hear most of the time.
Every Vesak for the past so many years, Upali K. Salgado has been producing ‘Vesak Lipi’, a leading Buddhist Digest which has attracted the attention of Lankans both here and abroad for its wealth of material.
In 2004, the Kidney Unit of Kandy General Hospital received a benevolent donation of a fully equipped 15 bed ward costing Rs. 1,500,000 from the readers of Vesak Lipi Buddhist Digest. This ward No.69 is named ‘Vesak Lipi’ ward. Further, over 1000 successful kidney transplants have been done thanks to all the donations received.
This year too, Mr. Salgado, (an honorary life member of the Kandy Kidney Protection Society) along with Dr.A.M.L Beligaswatta and Dr. Tilak Abeysekara (Vice Presidents of KKPS), appeal to the readers of Vesak Lipi Digest and kind-hearted members of the public to give generously to this worthy cause.
Crossed cheques should be drawn on: Commercial Bank PLC, A/C 8102870701 (Vesak Lipi Digest) marked “Account Payee only”.
Cheques could be posted to: Upali K.Salgado JP, C/o 45, Forty Second Lane, Wellawatta, Colombo 6.

1) 3 Pulse Oxymeters Rs. 150,000
2) 1 Syringe Pump Rs. 85,000
3) 1 Drug Trolley Rs. 29,000

5) 5,000 EDTA tubes Rs. 38,750
6) Donations for urgently required injections
