MCA ‘F’ Division 25-Over League Tournament back on track
After a weekend’s lay off due to bad weather, the maiden Commercial Credit & Finance PLC sponsored, MCA Division ‘F’ 25-Over League Tournament 2016 was back on track last weekend. Two centurions, Heshan de Silva for Nippon Paints and Sameera Fernando for Janashakthi Insurance and bowler, R.P.C. Pinto for South Asia Gateway Terminal (SAGT) grabbed the honours.
Heshan de Silva’s blistering, unbeaten 112 in 42 balls, with 12 sixes and 8 fours, ensured Nippon Paints 92-run win over newcomers, CMA-CGM Containers. Sameera Fernando’s 60-ball 105 not out, with 7 sixes and 7 fours, gave Janashakthi a comfortable 83-run win over Technomedics. R.P.C. Pinto bagged 5 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs, inclusive of a maiden, saw SAGT to an easy 8-wicket win over Bharti Airtel, who played with only 9 players.
Other notable performers were Heshan Flex Packaging’s Buddhika Prasad- 89 not out vs. DSI; DSI’s Chandima Abeykoon- 80 vs. Heshan Flex; CMA-CGM Containers’ Joel Chrishanth- 89 vs. Nippon Paints and EB Creasey’s (EBC) Faiz Ahamed- 78 not out vs. Fairway Holdings. The League stage of the Tournament will end this weekend with a card of 21 fixtures.
